We had the really neat opportunity to join our friend and recently certified pilot to take a quick flight over San Diego. We live right across the Montgomery-Gibbs Airport so when we got the opportunity we gladly accepted! The plane was a Cessna 172 Skyhawk four-seater and though it looks small it is actually pretty spacious inside. Admittedly, take-off and landing can be a bit nerve-wrecking. But much to my surprise, it was a lot smoother (and quicker) than on a lot of commercial flights I’ve been on!
Did you know that the pilot’s feet do a lot of the ‘driving?’ And the pilot, even let Chris try out his skills as a copilot. Chris gave it a shot but let’s just say he’s not quitting his day job anytime soon. Pilots use a paper map as well as an iPad that shows the planes exact location. The entire flight lasted a little less than an hour and we got to see Ramona, Lake Cucamaya and a lot of the surrounding areas. The weather was a bit hazy but still so beautiful. Check out the photo diary below!
Flying over San Diego was such a fun experience! It was so neat to fly over parts of town that I drive around regularly. Let me know what was your favorite part?
Dazzling panoramas, world-famous sunsets and pristine white, cliff-top villages – it’s no wonder…
